Women’s VOICES Podcast

In 2020, the scheduled Women’s Voices Theater Project was cancelled due to COVID. After much revisioning, the voices and stories that the all woman ensemble had planned to share finally took that form of a Women’s Voices Podcast, “Collective Pause,” created in partnership with Circa 71 Productions and WRit Large. Additional podcasts were created on Origin Stories to continuum the moment of amplifying women’s voices through the pandemic.

Participating Artists included

Suzie Brady, Jennifer Johnson, Vanessa Porras, Renee Prince, Natalie Spears, Marcia Weese, Mintze Wu, Kristin Carlson, Alya Howe, Gabriela Alvarez Espinoza, Marcia Weese, Barbara Reese, Trary LaMee, Amy Kimberly

An ongoing study by the Lilly Awards in partnership with the Dramatists Guild has found that only 22% of the plays produced in the U.S. in the last three years were written by women. Only 22%.

If life worked like the theater, 4 out of 5 things you had ever heard would have been said by men.
