VOICES Radio Hour

VOICES Radio Hour | a collaboration with Circa 71 Productions

2nd Friday of The Month, 6-7pm on KDNK Radio

VOICES Radio Hour is a response to our intrinsic need to share stories, coupling with Circa 71 Productions’ mission to preserve memories and stories as the sacred archeology of our loved ones. The collaboration brings about collected stories under different themes and voices from all walks of our community in the monthly VOICES Radio Hour. We hope this serves to preserve our oral history of who we are, where we come from, and who we aspire to be, through the tradition of storytelling.

Episode 15. Women’s VOICES: Theater Magic

April 12 , 6-7pm

The organizer and host of each VOICES Radio Hour is our Director of Community Programs, Cassidy Willey. The following is Cassidy’s own words and story about this month’s episode: Women’s VOICES: Theater Magic!

The first piece of theater I remember was Peter Pan at the Aspen District Theatre in the early 90s. I vividly recall the thrill and awe I felt watching Peter and the Darling children FLY through the air! After that experience, I always asked my parents to take me back to another “people movie”. It was pure magic. I was hooked.

Turns out Theater Magic has gripped me most of my life. Watching people inhabit the depth of humanity in real time fascinates and inspires me. I’ve had the great fortune to have been a part of many moments of theater magic myself. In fact, at times I’ve been so enamored with theater that I can only describe my experience as breathtaking as falling in love.

This month, I have the honor of directing an ensemble of five women in the 2024 Women’s VOICES Theater Project: Objects in Mirror. In anticipation of these performances, VOICES Radio Hour highlights stories of Theater Magic as told by some of the women behind the scenes of this year’s project. Members of the production and design team share about their own moments in theater that have lit them up and kept them coming back to create.
— Cassidy Willey
